Visser & Smit Hanab has been hired by the Surinamese Staatsolie oil company to drill four boreholes totalling 5 kilometres in length. These will be directionally drilled boreholes for pulling-in pipe bundles. Each bundle has four pipes of 4-inch, 6-inch, 8-inch and 10-inch diameter. The boreholes are being installed along the banks of the Suriname River. The company opted for horizontal directional drilling to minimise the impact on land owners.
Visser & Smit Hanab's activities are part of a larger project for expanding the Staatsolie refinery in Paramaribo.
The project will start in the near future and is scheduled for delivery in mid-2014.
